Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Konvoyage mobile application and website at konvoyage.com (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Konvoyage ("we," "us," or "our"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Konvoyage, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Konvoyage. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Konvoyage is a real-time group navigation application. Users create trips, share 6-character trip codes with friends, and see each other's live location on the map during turn-by-turn navigation. The Service includes features such as quick messaging between trip members, trip history and event logging, automatic arrival detection, and background location sharing via a foreground service.
Features, functionality, and availability may change at any time without notice. The Service is provided "as is".
3. User Accounts and Access
Konvoyage requires you to sign in with a Google account via Firebase Authentication. When you sign in, we create a device record associated with your Google account ID, email address, and display name.
- Google Sign-In — You must sign in with your Google account to use Konvoyage. Your Google account ID, email address, and display name are stored to identify you across sessions and trips.
- Device Identity — Each device you use with Konvoyage is assigned a unique device identifier. This identifier is linked to your Google account and used to manage your trip memberships and push notifications.
- Display Names — Your display name from your Google account is used by default when joining trips. Do not impersonate other people or use offensive names.
- Trip Codes — You are responsible for keeping your trip code private. Anyone who has the code can join the trip and see the live location of all participants. Only share trip codes with people you trust and intend to travel with.
- Account Deletion — You can delete your account and all associated data at any time using the account deletion feature in the app (Account section), or by contacting us at [email protected]. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your device records, Google account linkage, trip membership history, and associated location history.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Konvoyage responsibly and lawfully. Specifically, you agree not to:
- Use the app unsafely while driving — Konvoyage is designed for passengers to monitor the group or for drivers to set up routes before departing. Do not interact with the app while operating a vehicle.
- Stalk, harass, or track anyone — Do not use Konvoyage to monitor someone's location without their knowledge and explicit consent. All trip participants must be aware that location sharing is active.
- Reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the Service — Do not attempt to decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the app or backend. Do not probe for vulnerabilities, launch denial-of-service attacks, or interfere with the Service's operation.
- Use for illegal purposes — Do not use Konvoyage in connection with any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations.
- Post or share illegal content — Do not use the Service to distribute, promote, or facilitate child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits or endangers minors. We report such content to the appropriate authorities.
- Share trip codes irresponsibly — Do not post trip codes publicly or share them with people who are not part of your traveling group. Trip codes grant real-time access to everyone's location in the trip.
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict your access to the Service at any time, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms.
5. Location Data and Consent
Konvoyage's core functionality relies on sharing your precise, real-time location with other trip participants. By joining a trip, you:
- Explicitly consent to sharing your precise GPS location with all other participants in the same trip, in real time.
- Acknowledge that your location will be shared even when the app is in the background or your screen is off (via a foreground service with a persistent notification).
- Agree to inform all trip participants that location sharing is active. Do not add someone to a trip or share a trip code with someone without making them aware that their location will be visible to everyone in the group.
You can stop sharing your location at any time by leaving the trip, closing the app, or revoking location permissions in your device settings.

6. Intellectual Property
The Konvoyage name, logo, application, website, and all associated content, code, and materials are the property of Konvoyage and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Konvoyage app for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. This license does not include the right to:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works based on the app
- Distribute, sublicense, or make the app available to third parties as a product
- Use Konvoyage's name, branding, or materials without our written permission
- Use the app for commercial fleet tracking, logistics, or other business purposes without a separate agreement
7. Third-Party Services
Konvoyage uses third-party services to provide mapping, navigation, and infrastructure. These services are governed by their own terms and policies:
- Google Maps & Navigation — The app uses Google Maps SDK and Google Navigation SDK. Your use of map and navigation features is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloud Hosting — Our backend runs on third-party cloud infrastructure. These providers process data in transit on our behalf.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or reliability of third-party services. If a third-party service experiences downtime or issues, Konvoyage's functionality may be affected.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Without limiting the above:
- Navigation accuracy — We do not warrant that navigation directions, maps, or location data will be accurate, complete, or up to date. Maps and routing are provided by third-party services and may contain errors.
- Not a replacement for safe driving — Konvoyage is NOT a substitute for attentive driving. Always keep your eyes on the road, follow traffic laws, and exercise your own judgment. The driver is always responsible for the safe operation of their vehicle.
- Emergency situations — Do not rely solely on Konvoyage for navigation in emergency situations. Use official emergency services and navigation tools as appropriate.
- Service availability — We do not guarantee uptime, uninterrupted service, or that the Service will be free from errors or defects. The Service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Konvoyage and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, regardless of the theory of liability.
Without limiting the foregoing, we are specifically not liable for:
- Accidents, injuries, or property damage arising from use of the app while driving or navigating
- Reliance on navigation directions, location data, or map information provided through the Service
- Actions taken by other trip participants based on your shared location
- Loss or unauthorized disclosure of trip codes
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us for use of the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, which is currently $0.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Konvoyage and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
- Any content or information you provide through the Service
11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, via in-app notice or on our website).
Your continued use of Konvoyage after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
